[Trollbabe] Conflitti e Condizioni

Hello Ron,

Still ******* here, sending you an e-mail as you asked.

This question came up on our forum (La Locanda), at this thread: [Trollbabe] Conflitti e Condizioni - n°15 da Alek - Giochi e giocare - La Locanda dei GDR (I don’t know how much Italian you speak, but I’m linking it for reference in any case).

I’m trying to translate as best as I can; I haven’t played Trollbabe much so forgive me if my language is inaccurate, I’ve tried my best to render the question using my english edition of Trollbabe.

This is related to the chart at page 61 of the 2009 edition. When failing a conflict, and the trollbabe has been only Inconvenienced, and not Injured or Incapacitated, what is the consequence for a Relationship that has been brought into play for a re-roll?

-Spiegel- (******), who’s considered the italian “Trollbabe” expert, thought you could offer clarification on this point.

Example given by Alek, the asker:

Conflict with clash-by-clash pace:

  • series 1: failure
  • series 2: failure, re-roll using a relationship and success
  • series 3: failure

What consequence is there for the relationship?

Thanks for taking the time to read through this.

Kind Regards,

*******.

Ron Edwards:

The reason that it’s not on the chart is that if the trollbabe fails and is therefore inconvenienced, and that’s the end of that roll, then she did not use a Relationship for a re-roll.

However, the example you’ve provided is a useful edge case: when the re-roll was used for a success in a higher Pace. The answer is that you apply the fate of the Relationship character as determined by that single roll (“series”). In this case, the Relationship character is injured.

Don’t make it harder than it is. If the table works as written, i.e., the result can be applied based on the larger picture of the Goal, then use it that way. This example is an edge case and the only time you would look “inside” a high-Pace like that.

Grazie mille, ranocchio.

In particolare:
